We will have an IMPORTANT meeting  tomorrow, Wednesday June 7th at 2:30 in C113 discussing items for this coming season. It is imperative that you are there if you are interested in playing.

Unfortunately I am having to postpone tomorrow's meeting until next week. I will post the date as soon as I know the date.  Also I still do not have any checks for the summer league at this time. I have extended the time until this coming Monday. That is also tentative on if we get a volunteer to coach the team.

Mr O'Neill asked me to have someone on the YSC team who is playing tonight to call him and see if they can give him a ride to the game. His number is 610-270-3833.

We are hoping to get a team in the Mustangs 7 V 7 Summer League at Montgomery County Community College to keep us playing in a competitive environment to prepare us for August 14th. It runs from June 20 - July 27th, Tuesday and Thursday nights at either 5:30, 6:30, or 7:30 games. We hope to get a minimum of 14 players so that we can guarantee we have enough players for each game. Cost will be $40 a player which will be due by June 2nd. Checks made payable to 'Tom Dodds'. 

Our coaching staff is unavailable for these nights so we will need to get a parent or anyone who is over 18 who is responsible to take the team. Get back to me if you know of anyone who is interested in coaching the team. Obviously without a coach we will not be able to enter a team. 

Remember, checks in by FRIDAY, JUNE 2ND if interested.

This is a reminder to sign up for Physical Exams by tomorrow, May 23rd, with the Athletic trainer so you can get your physical on June 8th.

The School District is holding Physical Examinations for Soccer on June 8th from 2:30 - 5:30. in the Large Gym. You must have the completed PIAA CIPPE forms and signed. You can get them from the Athletic office or download off the UMASD website. The cost is $10 but you must sign up by May 23rd with Kristen or Brad, our Athletic Trainers. Spread the word to all Soccer players.

This Saturday is a Car wash to help fund raise for a former Upper Merion Girls Soccer player, Taylor Nearon, who is struggling with a rare disease. If you can stop by between 9am - 1 pm at Candlebrook Elementary School it would be such a great gesture on your part and a caring show of support for  her.

If you can be there wear an Upper Merion Soccer T-shirt. I know it would mean a lot to her.

First game for the Spring League at YSC is at 7:15 tomorrow night. Mr. Oneill will have tshirts. Bring a white tshirt just in case. Also shin guards,soccer shoes, blue or white shorts, and a water bottle.

There is a spring league running for 8 weeks at YSC on Tuesday nights beginning April 4th. If you are interested I need a check by next Thursday, March 30th for the amount of $70 written out to 'Tom Dodds' Once I see how many checks we receive we will determine who is playing and how many teams.

There will not be Indoors this week at the High School. I am working on getting the gym for the next couple of weeks starting next Wednesday but it is still tentative. I will get back to you to verify. Our Weight Training program is also coming to an end this week.

Indoors is on Wednesday night this week. Our numbers have been very good. Hopefully we will start to get more of you to come to our Strength and Speed Training after school on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 2:40 - 3:30. Those of you who are coming are doing an excellent job and this will greatly benefit you in becoming a better player and having an edge on your competition. Yesterday the few that came went out and played outside. Well done!!

We will begin our strength training program this coming Monday. We will have the weight room Monday, Wednesday and Fridays until the end of February from 2:40 - 3:30.

We will also have both gyms at the high school for Indoor Soccer on the following dates from 8 pm - 9:30 pm.

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and look forward to the New Year. We have a number of things planned for the upcoming year to get prepared for August. We will be in the weight room Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2:30 - 3:30 each day along with one night a week of Indoor Soccer at the high school gyms. I will send out the dates soon.

Again, I hope this new year is an excellent one for you and your families.

I just received an email from YSC that they are now accepting registrations for the second session of Indoors that begins in January. If you are interested I will need a check for $100 to 'Tom Dodds' by Friday, since this session sells out quickly.

Once I see how many have given me their deposit we will see if we have enough for teams.  

The turn out was great for this first session and hopefully we can continue with this interest so you can continue with the development of your game.

Good news! The Boosters will help with the registration cost. Not sure how much each player will get off their registration cost, so for now you must still bring in the $110 check to 'TOM DODDS' by this Monday to make the commitment to play.

Sorry for the late notice but I just found out that YSC only has 8 spots left for the 1st Indoor session. So if you are interested in playing I will need a check for $110 by this MONDAY, written out to 'Tom Dodds'. Depending on the numbers we may also need a parent volunteer to coach a team. 

I wanted to let all of you that played in today's final match know of how proud I am of your effort. And for those of you who did not get the time that you would've liked or felt deserved in this game I know that you would have not disappointed me  either.

As stinging as this defeat was for me today, your intensity and great desire makes me proud of the group of men that I was fortunate enough to coach.

As the season approaches I wanted to write to you and share with you the important items and expectations for the upcoming year. I hope you are as excited as I am and are looking forward to a successful season.

1. The first and most important item is the physical exam. YOU MUST HAVE AN EXAM AND PIAA PACKET SIGNED BY YOUR PARENTS AND COMPLETED BY A PHYSICIAN BEFORE YOU MAY PRACTICE! If you did not get your physical forms in the Spring, download them on the uppermerionvikings.org website and click on Files & Links to get the PIAA exam forms.

2. Training sessions begin on Monday, August 15 at 8:30 am, at the high school soccer field. Prior to coming to the field you must go to the Athletic Training Room at the high school to verify that you have your Physical completed and they will hand you a verification card to give to the coaching staff. I would suggest you get there by 8am.

We will have 2 training sessions a day the first week; a morning session from 8:30 am until approximately 11:30 am and an evening session from 5:30pm until 7:30pm. Remember these sessions are mandatory, so plan your work schedule and other activities around these times.

The equipment you will need for these sessions will be running shoes, soccer shoes, soccer ball, shin guards, and a water cooler.

3. Finally, I hope you have been preparing yourself physically by working out over the summer.  We expect all players to be in good physical condition by August 15 so that we may spend more time on technique and tactics of the game rather than on conditioning. We will know early on if you have been training when we run the Keebler road loop and see if you get below 12 minutes.  Freshmen are expected to be below 13 minutes. You will dictate what we do! Many of you have been playing this summer so take advantage of this head start and continue maintaining and expanding your fitness. For the others, you will determine your level of fitness by beginning your training NOW!
