State Indoor Track and Field Championship

On Saturday, March 1st, several members of the Girls & Boys Winter Track Team competed at the State Indoor Track and Field Championship. Anecia Alexaki cleared 11'6" in the pole vault, placing 6th overall! Austin Cooper ran his indoor personal best time in the mile, 4:23.01. He placed 10th overall. Cooper later competed in the open 800m, and he placed 6th overall with an indoor personal best time of 1:56.68.  Jada Wilson also competed in the open 800m, placing 21st overall with her indoor personal best time of 2:21.30! Our girls 4x800m relay (Ashley Anderson, Zeinab Bakillah, Morgan Morton, and Jada Wilson) finished their season off strong with a time of 10:01.2 and placed 14th overall-  Congratulations on a successful season. We are looking forward to our Spring Track and Field season! 

Boys & Girls Winter Track team competed in the PTFCA Carnival

The Boys & Girls Winter Track team competed in the PTFCA Carnival at Lehigh University on February 15, 2014. Anecia Alexaki tied her indoor personal record in the pole vault, clearing 11'0". She placed second in the meet. The boys 4x800m relay of Zak Khattabi, Noah Falasco, Kevin Crowe, and Austin Cooper placed 1st overall with a season best time of 8:24.95. The girls 4x800m relay of  Caitlyn Lutz, Zeinab Bakillah, Morgan Morton, and Jada Wilson placed 6th overall with a time of 10:17.  Both teams will be sending relays and individuals to compete in the Meet of Champs this upcoming weekend.

Congratulations to Anecia Alexaki for qualifying for the State Indoor Track & Field Championships in pole vault! She placed 1st in the meet on December 13, 2013 and cleared a height of 10'9". This is also a new indoor school record. 
 

Meet of Champions at Lehigh University

On Friday night, February 21, 2014, several members of the Girls Winter Track team competed in the Meet of Champions at Lehigh University. Anecia Alexaki placed 1st in the meet in the pole vault event, clearing 11'4". This is an indoor personal best and improves her previous indoor school record! In the open 800m, Jada Wilson ran an indoor personal best time of 2:22.55 and placed 10th overall. The girls 4x800m relay of Ashley Anderson, Zeinab Bakillah, Morgan Morton, and Jada Wilson placed 9th overall with a time of 10:00.42. Ashley (2:26.8) and Zeinab (2:33.5) ran indoor personal best times for this event. Our girls 4x400m relay of Rose Sedgwick, Lexi Ryan, Ashley Anderson, and Morgan Morton ran a time of 4:23.2— with season best efforts from Lexi, Morgan and Ashley. Congratulations to the girls! Anecia (pole vault) Jada (4x800m, open 800m) and the girls 4x800m relay (Ashley, Zeinab, Morgan, and Jada) will travel to Penn State University this upcoming weekend to compete in the State Indoor Track and Field Championships.

End of Season Review

The 2013-2014 Boys and Girls Winter Track Team had a successful indoor season.  Despite the frigid temperatures and unpredictable weather, the team maintained their training and focus to achieve their goals, with many athletes setting new indoor personal records. Fifteen athletes from the team qualified for the Meet of Champions, the most to qualify in many years. Shortly after, six athletes competed in the State Indoor Track and Field Championship (Seniors: Ashley Anderson, Zeinab Bakillah, Jada Wilson, Austin Cooper, Anecia Alexaki; Freshman: Morgan Morton).  At the state meet, Cooper placed 10th in the mile and later medaled in the open 800m, finishing in 6th place. He ran his best indoor times in both events.  In the pole vault event, Alexaki medaled and finished in 6th place, clearing 11’6”. Wilson ran her best indoor time in the open 800m and placed 21st. The girls’ 4x800m relay placed 14th overall at the meet.

Friday- No official practice. Do the work out from Coach A's handout.

Saturday- Practice 9:30 AM at the track for distance, mid distance.

Practice at Valley Forge Park at 9AM for distance/mid distance. Meet at the lower parking lot by the visitor center. Bring your own water.

If you need a ride, Coach Andreyko will be at the track at 8:30AM.
